Literature Text

I see you're writing in your diary,
Perhaps venting all your pain.
The ink's running like blood,
You've stained the page again.

Why must you write using your life?
And underline each word with tears?
Why can't you light a candle
Just to purge the dark of fears?

Why must you make me watch you cry?
I offer out my hand, you see?
Can't you let your pride give in,
Just accept my charity.

Yet you hunch there at your desk,
Changing all thought into word.
You keep each letter a secret,
Nothing will be heard.

Just so you know, I have no choice,
I can't see you hurting anymore.
I'll lock your wretched book,
And cast it to the floor.

We watched if from across the room,
You felt nothing but relief.
Separate at long last
From the record of your grief.

In candlelight we saw, a sight hard to believe.
The book lay across the room, bleeding.
We swore we heard the secrets whispered,
As if some horrid voice were reading.

At last the final straw,
And end once and for all.
I took up the burning candle.
And gave an almighty call.

"You are no simple book,
No tame tool used by man.
You who knoweth secrets,
That no other can"

We sat long above the pyre,
And took in the cleansing flame.
Enthralled by something evil,
We ended its vile game.
A little bit of something I found in my documents folder. Enjoy!
